Grad Solutions Is Back This Year!

Definition of beggar:

1. One who solicits alms for a living.
2. An impoverished person; a pauper.

We do not want to end up as a beggar because we did not try to seek for a job. I am sure all beggars have their stories to tell and some must be really tragic. I also know some might jest “Arghhh, can’t get a job, I might as well become a beggar!”

Beggars - When you think all is lost, you might opt for the best solution; to beg. When I say beg, it’s not to beg for help but to beg for money on the streets. Even through begging, strategies must be applied. What kind of strategies will you deploy to get a job, as a beggar or not? Not that I condone begging!

What do you do to get through a job? Start by attending a career fair. Start with The Big Meet Melbourne. The Big Meet is a careers fair targeted at undergraduates and recent graduates from all universities in the Melbourne region. So whether you are a first year student or final year undergraduate or you’ve been working, studying or travelling since graduation, you are welcome to attend.

Grad Solutions will be part of the following career fairs. GradSolutions will gladly find a solution for you to get hired. Just contact them on their website at www.gradsolutions.com.au and fill in the enquiry form. See you there!

“Frollic”-king Around!

Do your feet hurt after a long day’s work (or a long day’s shopping). Your feet swell up, expanding a size larger, they go red, begging to be released off the tension you strive hard to walk tall in those stilettos because you want to appear glamorous in your Jimmy Choo’s, Manolo Blahnik, Vincci, Nose or those affordable high-heeled shoes “Made In China” (they’re all made in China!) whatever the brand may be. You wish you brought a pair of slippers or sports shoes so you can run to catch the tram at the final minute and your feet’s just saying “no” to you.

What do you do? Surely you’ve heard of those foldable footsie rolls that has been in the market recently. Well, I got me two pairs of FROLLIC recently, seeing how I’m always complaining about my bunions, but still can’t leave my stilettos.

In case you’re wondering if I spelled FROLLIC the footsie roll brand wrongly, well I did not. It’s with the double “L”. I googled and this was what I found on the first search item in the online urban dictionary:

“To do sexual activites with each other or to a person.”

My reaction: GASP!!!

I am not sure what your definition of FROLLIC is, but here’s what this “PU synthetic leather, rollable ballet flats with rubber soles that come with a pouch or bag”, is all about.

It doesn’t take up much space in my bag afterall in this little pouch that came with the shoes.

I love it! It wraps around my feet pretty well. I’m a size 7, so I wear a Medium.

Frollic is sold in various colours and styles.

Rubber sole, not suitable on uneven or rough terrain maybe unless you’re in Melbourne (but still!).

Now I’m happily frolicking around.

Oops! Ballerina-went-wrong.

When the parcel arrived, it came in two boxes.

A large black bag, a smaller black bag and the shoes.

I love receiving pretty parcels.

When I retire for the day, I have a pair of trendy home slippers / flats. The website link at the end of this post contains all the information you need since this company is based in Malaysia. They ship internationally. They shipped to me in Australia!

Here’s a little video I prepared for you today! Hope it cheers you up!

Sculpting My Body In Shape

Advertorial

Taking care of my body is essential, knowing that as I grow older, I know my metabolism will drop which means that I will not be able to maintain my slim figure easily. Being slim forever is an option, not by default. I have to do a lot to achieve my ideal body weight.

When I met Josiah, he did not choose a sportswoman in me as his wife. But having a sportsman as a husband means I will have to synchronise my lifestyle with his. I have to achieve a healthy lifestyle to match his! I am now speaking on behalf of women out there too who not necessarily have a sportsman husband but having a partner you want to attract and as a woman, you want to feel sexy and still have those curves. He could have a beer belly or he could have the six-pack or biceps you’ll find it hard to match. Whatever it is, you still want to achieve the ultimate body because it boosts your confidence, whether or not for your partner or for others to see. You want to look good and you want to feel good. I know I do, and I won’t deny it.

The extra effort you put into your breakfast, snack or drink could boost your immune system, and metabolism while maintaining the body weight you want without trying too hard to match with a lot of exercise.

Above: This is Josiah’s range of Horley supplements on the left versus my new range of Horley’s Sculpt for women. I can now share this space!

I know, it’s rather cheeky of me but I can’t resist comparing the fact that I have my own range of products too, not just Josiah’s who takes up the entire cabinet space!

The big question here is, “Why Sculpt when I can find the nutrients I find in food?” Here I am embarking on a series of protein supplements to help maintain my weight while I exercise. While I choose my food correctly like having chicken breast salad, there will still be content within the food I don’t want, like chicken fats. Now it seems as if I want to be healthy and maintain my weight, I have to be really strict about what I choose to consume. I guess I can only try to be strict, but having Sculpt protein as part of my dietary intake, helps a lot more.

Sculpt is not designed as a sole diet intake. It’s designed to complement my current diet. For a busy lifestyle, Sculpt helps to fill source of vital nutrients to keep up with family, friends and career. Because I now regularly exercise, it provides me with a high protein meal and snack options to help manage appetite and assist with muscle tone and fat loss (yes, indeed what I really need!).

The protein in Sculpt comes from two sources; whey protein and soy protein.

NUTRITION BAR

Above: Apricot Chocolate, Raspberry Chocolate, Cranberry Yoghurt.

Imagine me in the office having hunger pangs and the best way to indulge in food (instead of chips or a coffee) would be on a Sculpt nutrition bar. I’ve now tried various types of bars and I must say that this has to be the yummiest bar I have ever tried. I don’t have to bite too hard onto the bar but it still breaks within my teeth and they’re crunchy but light. Made of 13g protein with low fat content of 160 calories or less, it contains 5g of fibre, real fruit pieces, calcium, iron, folate and has no artificial sweeteners.

Just carry one wherever you go. Looks nice too, nothing too messy (you don’t mess up your lips and fingers with oil or chips bits).

Above: Cranberry Yoghurt Flavour, tastes yummy and sweet.

PROTEIN POWDER

Swiss Chocolate. It tastes like a typical chocolate powder, nothing less, in case you’re wondering. Definitely not quite ideal for a warm or hot drink because this could spoil the bioavailability of the protein.

Here are some ways you can prepare your drink, Kim’s way!

Method 1: Protein Cereal

Prepare a bowl of cereals with some milk and add a spoon of protein powder. Stir through. The protein powder will mix into the milk turning the powder into chocolate milk! I know this doesn’t look good, but that’s because I have not stirred through yet. Chocolate doesn’t go with grain and fruit cereals that well, but if you’re looking at something more healthy, this is the best bet unless you’d like to have them (chocolate milk + protein powder) with coco pops or equivalent.

Method 2: Protein Shake

Above: Here’s my tasty version of blended orange (1), strawberries (4) and blueberries (10) with water and Sculpt Vanilla Crème powder.

Sportsman version

Sculpt Chocolate Powder + 3 cubes of ice + water

Shake till even. The after taste? Bland! This is recommended for sportsmen, just the way Josiah likes it but it works I guess. Personally, way too bland for me!

Office Lady version

Chocolate protein powder + ice + milk
Chocolate protein powder + ice + milk + 1 scoop of ice-cream (vanilla/choc)

Add chocolate milk or soy milk to the spoonful of protein powder with a lot of ice into the bottle and shake it up. You can also add a scoop of ice-cream to boost the flavour (if you don’t mind the extra calories!) Tastes absolutely yummy because this time, instead of water, we use milk and its taste itself is pretty yummy.

Method 3: Chocolate Smoothie

Swiss Chocolate protein powder + ice + milk
Swiss Chocolate protein powder + ice + milk + a scoop of yoghurt
Swiss Chocolate protein powder + ice + milk + oatmeal + 1 tablespoon of honey

Blend all of the above together for about 20 seconds and see which one you like best.

Here are other Smoothie options, taking full advantage of my new Breville Ikon blender for this sole purpose.

Above: For this drink, I crushed a few ice cubes and placed them at the bottom of the glass before drizzling some honey over it and finally topped it with my banana smoothie protein powder that has been blended in with half a cup of milk and a full banana.

Some options:
Banana Smoothie protein powder + ice + milk + 1 full banana
Summer Berries protein powder + ice + milk + 5 fresh strawberries / other fruits
Vanilla Crème protein powder + ice + milk + yoghurt

There you have it. Each 500g container provides 20 serves. Also available in individual serving sachets. The powder has soy and dairy ingredients but all flavours are gluten free and are suitable for vegetarians.

It has been almost a month consuming this product. So far so good I’d say.

Sculpt is recommended to help you have more energy while maintaining your weight or helping you lose weight. It is not ideal to cut out on nutrients while you go on a diet, it does not work. That’s why people who go on a diet look sluggish. It is also recommended that we eat regularly and more frequently and not go for more than 3 hours without a proper snack. Eating frequently uses energy to digest food, hence the need to some Sculpt protein.

Gems 4 Everyone

Malaysian-based online jewellery store “Gems 4 Everyone” has recently been launched. Dora Low dropped a few items at my doorstep and I thought I might share some of these pretty little trinklets with my readers. What’s there not to love about all things new, lovely and glittery? Crystals have never been my everyday-wear, although I have a few crystal items in my leather jewellery box. I now have some more to add to my collection. Take a look.

Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and rings in Swarovski crystals, cultured pearls and more!

Presents, with its nice packaging, neatly wrapped with silica gel to ensure crystals are void off moist.

When paired with the right outfit, it works on one’s skin. Light illuminates through the crystals.

Topaz Swarovski Crystal Bracelet is a few shades darker than my skin, complements it.

Ring custom-made to fit. It’s the Camarilla Uschi Swarovski Crystal Ring.

If you want to go goth, try Twinkle Arlette Swarovski Crystal Necklace.

Unless you want to go all sweet, demure and pristine, try the Margarite Marielle Cultured Pearl Earrings with your hair up (above) or down.
