Melbourne CNY Celebrations

Chinese New Year in Melbourne was somewhat spectacular with the many stalls and ambience that were setup at various locations around Victoria at different occasions during the festive season. It wasn’t quite “Chinese” in a lot of sense because some stalls sold food like “Nasi Lemak” or “Satay”.

Without realising, it was the end of Chinese New Year already. Our celebrations in Melbourne were as evident as the photos you see on this blog.

Hennessy VSOP NYX Launch in KL

I kind of forgot what parties in Malaysia are like. It was yet another eye opener when I went to the Hennessy VSOP Privilege Collection NYX. The party was really awesome, it’s a whole big do with a big setup at the shopping centre with a display of their newly launched bottle, with sexy ladies dressed in space outfit ushering guests to the venue in the next building. Guests were prompted to sign in first to receive their white glove marked “Hennessy” before heading to the party venue at Vertigo. Very carefully executed, from a brand standpoint.

It’s nice to head back to Malaysia for awesome parties like these once in a while. Too much of it too could lose oneself.

2011 Victorian Mustang Round Up (Dandenong Showgrounds)

A gathering of Mustang cars in Victoria. The biggest Ford Mustang and Shelby show (Shelby Nationals) outside of USA. Held at the Dandenong Showgrounds, there were more than 300 Mustangs present, organised by the Mustang Owners Club of Australia.

2008 Mustang Bullitt – previously owned by Tim Allen

We paid $2 to enter the Dandenong Showgrounds to have our car on display. It was a lot of fun, under the hot sun of 27 degrees on a fine Sunday morning. Australians are truly passionate towards Mustangs!

Watch this video I’ve put together – at 12pm, all the Mustangs’ engines were cranked up!

CALIFORNIA: Tim Allen’s Showroom

We purchased the car from Tim Allen. It’s tool time! Surely you remember Tim from Home Improvement. Josiah had a great time having a look through his showroom and office. Enjoy these photos.

New cars are for Home Improvement. Yes!

Merdeka in Melbourne 2011

The Malaysian superstars arrived in Melbourne on morning of 30th August and I was invited to join them at the Old Town Mamak in QV. It was flattering to be termed as a celebrity blogger and had my face placed on their poster in a Meet and Greet session. It was good to see familiar faces I had seen before, people I had personally met before; Joey G and Dennis Lau amongst the superstars.

The crew.

That night – Fusion at Crown and Co at Crown. It was time to party to the sounds of Merdeka!

The queue was unbelievable.

You know it was definitely a Malaysian crowd when you hear them go “Bersih” or “Boleh”  when Joey G prompts the crowd to respond saying “Malaysia???”.

L-R: Katherine, Esther, Kim, Liz, Su Lin.

DJ Eva T.

The crowd was a little serious at the start on a Tuesday night but got loose really quickly when they heard familiar DJ’s voices to the pumping music we were all too familiar with – DJs that did what they do best in their specific genre of music.

For MrNasty and Guru Guru, I was really expecting some Melbourne shufflers on the dancefloor, but those shufflers have put their shoes aside, they are long gone.

Tanah tumpahnya darahku (di Melbourne).

Selamat Merdeka, Malaysians. We have come a long way now, we have a strong tradition and culture. We have idiosyncrasies we can claim as ours – like “running on Malaysian time” or saying “lah”.
