Josiah and Keirin Gold at ACC 2012

Josiah won a gold medal in the Keirin event at the Asian Cycling Championships 2012 in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. I’m beyond happy!

Here’s a full video of the keirin race Josiah won.

Yay! Our Malaysian team did fantastic! Fatehah Mustapa won the Women’s Keirin and Azizulhasni Awang came in second place in Keirin.

The next thing I’d like to ask for would be a medal at the London World Cup 2012. Not too much to ask for, I hope? Will Josiah get me the moon? ;)

Performance – The Name Of The Game

In conjunction with Tour De France 2011. This one’s for you. This is absolutely hilarious – I have to share this with you because it’s about track cyclists vs fixie riders.

I can watch this video over and over again!

My First Bicycle Ride to Work

I am married to a cyclist and after 4 years of knowing him, I’m finally trying to ride the bicycle more frequent. I never learnt how to ride the bike properly in my earlier days. I have cycled three times on the road after practising three times in my basement carpark, how hillarious after Josiah bought me this Cannondale Hooligan. I did look a little out of place with all the pro-cyclists on the road with their lycra outfits and there I was cycling on the shared footpath. I didn’t even dare to ride on the bike path.

People have warned me of the possible dangers of riding in the city with the traffic, but I just thought to myself – if not now, when? I’ll never get to ride the bicycle or do something challenging because someone close to me warns me against it. Touch wood, I don’t want to jinx myself – but if that’s the case – seriously, I’ll never ride my bike and there will always be an excuse.

Then, I’ll never understand the kind of pain my hubby goes through as a cyclist. Just riding twice over the past two days for about 10kms, my muscles are sore.

My goal is to look hot. I am going to look muscular, fit and my skin will glow.

My first bicycle ride to work. How long can I keep it up?

Gold & Silver – Keirin (Asian Games 2010)

Azizulhasni Awang bagged gold and Josiah clinched the silver medal for Malaysia in the keirin event (his pet event) at the Asian Games 2010. It was a lovely 1-2 win for Malaysia. Here are the videos.

I was so overwhelmed, I thought it would be a courtesy to congratulate them verbally, so here I go, in Malay. I am still very much in touch with that language.

Malaysia's Josiah Ng, left, holds hi silver medal ...

Josiah’s Gold Surprise BBQ

It was just two days after Josiah was invited to speak at Sunshine School here in Melbourne to two different levels of children at separate sessions about cycling – what was involved and how he won a gold medal. Josiah loves children and if anything at all, he loves engaging with them because he believes one of them might be an Olympian, a super star of some sort. He felt it was important to bring out the best in them by instilling moral values and sportsmanship.

During the session, he had questions like – “Are you married? What place did you get? Where are you from?” etc.

A few days later, our close family friends surprised Josiah with a BBQ at their home and even made him a banner!

Josh – future athlete!

Aeyshah, future athlete, she makes a great runner!

This is Mary and she was dandy!

Guess who ate all of them – oysters?

Teeheehee!

Thank you Diana & Matty for organising the perfect Saturday for us! XOXO We love you.
