Chanel's Latest: Coco Cocoon

I’ll be saving up for a nice Chanel bag. Which one of the following Chanel Coco Cocoon would fit me? I’ve put together a series of photos of Chanel’s latest collection for you, my fashionable readers.

Chanel Coco Cocoon bags have been created exactly the way I love it, for its practicality and my appetite for adventure. Those are the two elements from Mademoiselle’s creations – Gabrielle Chanel.

The latest line – Coco Cocoon bags (Tongue-twister, isn’t it?) are made of nylon or lambskin. They’re soft, quilted and most importantly, light. Really practical, and you can fit your things into the bag with its ample storage. Karl Lagerfeld has them in different sizes and models for women who are big on comfort and style whether in town, travelling or working.

A good bag does not need to shout its brand by a large logo. In fact, the new line of bags have chosen a discreet yet classy luxury feel with its double C logo engraved on the leather in matching tones under the zip of the front pocket.

Choose from:
- beige, black, chocolate or burgundy
- shopping bag, bowling bag, trolley bag
- mini and maxi version

British singer Lily Allen.

Karl Lagerfeld was so compelled by her personality and says she looks a lot like Gabrielle Chanel and she is a “self-made woman – cool, young and extremely witty.” I like Lagerfeld’s line when he used “self-made woman”. Exactly my idea of being a true woman.

However, having Lily Allen as the new face for Chanel did raise some eyebrows where they see Lily as the rocker pop chick that may not put her in the same light as previous Chanel ladies – Audrey Hepburn, Catherine Deneuve, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor. From a girl-next-door, sneakers, t-shirt and jeans type of gal to the classy Chanel-do, it may not bode too well with Chanel’s image.

Then, we question if times are indeed changing and just with everything else, Chanel is revolving too? Maintain the class, chic and elegance and add abit of quirkiness and you’ll get a Lily Allen.

Well, hello…the teeny bopper Lily Allen with puppy fat love handles has indeed grown into a really sophisticated Chanel ambassador and she is still blossoming. She is wearing Chanel’s ready-to-wear.

I’d say the perfect fit for the latest line of Chanel.

Yet something else to consider – Chanel’s  unconventional new line of bags which speaks of the brand’s revolution of versatility, opening up a whole new market.

From this (above) to a whole new range of casual yet classy bags and still keeping to its quilted effect.

Chanel has it all well-thought.

Check out Lily Allen’s small Coco Cocoon tote leather bag (right) and bowling bag in nylon (left). She’s also got her black leather jacket that matches her cashmere and leather gloves from Fall/Winter 2009-10 collection.

CHANEL has always been about the sophistication. This is Coco Cocoon bowling bag in quilted leather, not forgetting how she matches the casual bag with her princess tiara with her chignon.

My favourite bag?

It’s reversible. How awesome!

My favourite would be the Chanel Coco Cocoon bowling bag (below).

I personally think this line of bags opens up a whole new target market while keeping to its sophistication. What do you think?

Hi Kim. This is quite an interesting line of bags from Chanel. It’s not quite them to produce such bags but why not. You’re right abt Lily Allen. She’s still growing. I think ppl need to give her a break.

  • Lindy

Very unique. Looks comfy. How much would they cost? Please reveal the price.

  • fye

my money is on the reversible white/maroon bag. it’ll work with most of the stuff u wear. though it looks mighty big… kinda like a puffed up coles shopping bag.

  • Laydeh

Oh no! I can’t say I’m a fan of their new line. Kinda reminds me of a parka. Chanel I love your stuff but I can’t say I’d spend money on this.

  • olengjus

Seriously interesting.. Love how Chanel come up with a reversible bag. It will be good for daily wear seriously, I will get my money’s worth by using this bag. Definitely opt the Bowling bag.. because being a mum, my handbag needs the zip all the way through.. since little one can tip over the bag and all the contents inside anytime.. anywhere..

  • Meera: I think Lily Allen was chosen coz she’s fresh, that’s why.

Lindy: Can we say around >2k onwards?

fye: Hahahha… coles shopping bag. This is really a shopping bag, seriously!

Laydeh: Chanel fans who love their original bags have a thing for their original bags, I hear ya. I think they took quite a big risk for this one. We’ll see how it goes. It’s still the start of it.

olengjus: And not to mention a safe bag for the baby too. You’re right Some bags with huge buckles are not very safe for babies!!!

During my time it was that conventional Chanel bag – the one you have above. Now,they have diversified into the current one. Quite a revolution.
I heard it’s quite pricey too. Good entry, well put together, with interesting photos too !

Personally i like the small coco cocoon tote leather bag. can matched with OL and casual look….Since the bag can be reversible, ppl will thought that u have two chanel bag!!! LOL

  • noname

Wow those bags really suits Lily Allen!

  • Doz

The Coco Cocoon line is somewhere around 5.5 k Ringgit onwards(around 1.8 k aud onwards)…..

I hesitated due to the fact that it’s nylon , and although it comes in lambskin(it’s probably too divine to use!)

Saying that though, love the choice of Lily Allen for the model!!

I still can’t get myself to like this line from Chanel no matter how many times I look at it. But I’m glad you like you. At least you’re more adventurous than me. I always think of the classics (i.e. Chanel 2.55)..well because they are classics. I hope to be able to pass them down to my children/grandchildren someday (: If you have some free time, read bagsnob.com! These 2 ladies have very interesting insights to purses.
