Aloha, and hello to 2010. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s celebration. What a great way to start the new year refreshed. What’s your story? Josiah and I returned on New Year’s Day 2010 from Hawaii for our belated honeymoon, which was indeed never too late. Given a choice, I’d like to make every year, every trip a honeymoon. We got to sit back and relax.
We left on 22 December 2009 via Jetstar/Qantas to Sydney and then to Honolulu. It was a gruelling, approximately 13-hour journey.
I could not sleep on air, was too excited to reach Hawaii and see its wonders. Seen so much of Hawaii in movies and photos online, it was time to set my foot on their sands.
As Josiah requested for some water, the air steward and stewardess struck up a conversation with him and learnt that we were on our way to have our honeymoon. Within an hour later, Jetstar/Qantas surprised us with a cheesecake, two glasses of wine and two Ferrero Rocher chocolates. How sweet!
Leaving Sydney.
Without realising, we were already in Hawaii! Aloha!
What I had anticipated – to wear a “lei”.
And what I did not quite expect was to sit in a luxurious limousine. I thought it was going to be a huge car, not such a large one! Myjojo’s so schweeeetttt!
I felt like a princess.
We checked into Ala Moana Hotel and it was right next to one of the three largest malls in America – Ala Moana Shopping Centre.
The view from the hotel room.
All I wanted to do was to taste some exclusive Hawaiian food.
This is authentic Hawaiian food - rice, some shredded chicken, some egg thingy, and braised pork.
Honestly, Hawaiian food tastes quite yucky or rather, it’s a real acquired taste.
But my American boy Josiah (because he grew up in California), loves his Mexican food.
And more pictures to come. So much adventure. I think I processed something like 660 photos from this trip.
