I’ve been in quite a rush this week, hence whipping up quick and easy meals that still taste decent.
Chicken & Spam Omelette
I just boiled the chicken and chuck it into the omelette alongside with the spam from the can. Also squirted some dijonnaise mustard onto the omelette before coating it with cheese.
Flipped it over and voila, it appeared really crunchy before I finally prepared some rocket leaves, capers and caviar.
I think you can pretty much have a sense of how I buy my groceries and I tend to use the same ingredients.
Linguini with Spicy Spam
Or for even more malas people, linguini pasta works best. Then chop up the spicy spam. Boil everything else (shiitake mushrooms and brussel sprouts) besides the spam. Mix the linguine with olive oil and go crazy with whatever herbs you’ve bought from McCormick or Masterfoods (or fresh-grown ones). Be decent and it will taste yummy. If all else fails, just sprinkle lots of parmesan. Always works.
Beef Cubed Noodles with Chicken
Chuck everything to boil and then finally add the beef cubes. Muahaha, then decorate the bowl with a few cut chilli bits. As easy as making instant noodles. Cheat method yet healthy with only a few drops of sesame oil and a few sprinkles of pepper to taste.
Not So Malas Sick Porridge
I always reckon porridge is cooked for sick people. More than a week ago, my hubby and I resorted to eating this (above). Boiled rice (porridge) with split peas and a few dashes of salt, pepper and sesame oil. Simple omelette on the side like teo-chew style. Too bad I missed my salted radishes.
Pork Scotch Steak
A malas (lazy) person can always cheat by getting his or her partner to do most of the work.
SMS: “Dear, can you please thaw the meat out by 6pm from the fridge and later marinade it with some sesame oil, soy sauce and go crazy with whatever herb you want from my herbs rack. Love you. Will be back by 7pm.”
When I came home, voila! All ready to be put onto the frying pan. Jamie Oliver’s Tefal grill pan, hurry up!!! Then I also sauteed some onions with the leftover oil on the frying pan. At the final minute after I shut the fire, I placed the spinach into the frying pan so it still looks fresh and not too “weak” or overcooked. Also added a few tomato cherries.
It’s so easy to simply whip up some salad. Identify the strength of the ingredient and treat it carefully. Plus, never underestimate the power of your man or woman’s cooking skills, even at the slightest task like marinades. Always good to test them out. *winks* Abit too late to test already right, Kim Ng?
Oh, I want to share something yummy with you all.
I saw this and was curious so I bought it. Quite yummy. Can make nice antipasto with this.
Oh well, this week’s busy week. Shall try harder and cook better next week. Oh no, Josiah has competition soon. Gotta buck up again. Maybe I’ll cook him his “competition meal”, something I won’t share on this space.
XOXO

My malas meal is tofu soong and Japanese broth with udon noodles. It is also a budget meal.
michelle: I must try that someday. Haven’t been exploring much at the grocer’s lately. Also been trying out different brands and sauces. Fun right.
Michelle: I did same thing… That is my malas meal.

Kim: Why sometimes I found it difficult to open ur page.
Anyway, I like the Beef cube noodles. What kind of noodles you used? Is it Mee Sua or Glass Noodles? The porridge oso my meal…Cook the porridge and variety the ‘lauk’… yummy… and you should have the salted radish
Love you Kim.. (I am fan of yours anyway)
weiii! you should totally open a restaurant yourself!!!!! everything you make looks soooo yummyyyy!!! even the porridge looked heavenly! wonder what name your restaurant will be. hehehe
hey kim, i’m quite curious bout this rocket leaves thingy. What does it taste like?
Nor R: Uh oh, too many pics I think. That’s why. Aha… the noodles are Vietnamese vermicelli glass (but not too glassy like the Thai ones) noodles. I think they work pretty well. Yeah, I shd put in more effort and make more lauk but sometimes only 2 of us, hard to make so many diff lauk(s) in much qty. Thx for the support babe, need it. Muaxxxxx.
yumii: Wow, really not qualified yet lar babe!! Hahaha. I haven’t even made authentic meals yet *which I should*.
Darkcherryvelvet: Honestly, they’re an acquired taste. BITTER! So you must have it with something salty to counter the bitterness. It’s quite a different one, tastes so much more diff than spinach.
looks so yummy!
