Never will I be unmotivated and let myself down. Never will I ever give up. Never will I regret yesterday’s steps. AJISEN RAMEN 130 Bourke St Quite yummy, I really enjoyed myself. Maybe it was the load of addictive special something they added in the soup, but I found myself finishing the entire bowl. The kind of soup noodle your mother would tell you not to finish otherwise you’d lose your hair with the sodium content. Eeeks! In terms of pricing, not too bad either. Reasonably fit for students.
RAMEN-YA 350 Bourke Street, This one’s not too bad either. Not so much oomph compared to the one down the road (two blocks down), probably lacks ingredients and colour, but it’s not a bad thing, just differs in style. Still pretty heavy on salt, I guess that’s the nature of ramen noodles *winks*.
LA CAMERA, SOUTHGATE http://www.lacamerasouthgate.com This one’s an absolute winner. You can have a $10 meal pasta and a glass of wine together. How awesome! Unbelievable for such a location with high-end restaurants around the area and I still get to sip a glass of wine (definitely cheap wine but so what). Not many people know about their $10 / $15 meals.
Alright, I was a little heavy-handed on my parmesan cheese. Had no idea it was pretty salty! PACIFIC SEAFOOD BBQ HOUSE 213 Lonsdale St, Had yummy siu yook, some duck and water convulvulus (kangkung) but they called it water spinach on their menu! Very nice meal, tummy was full!
BUNDO RAYA 9/176 Commercial Road (close to Chapel St) This restaurant is around two months old now and serves really authentic Padang Indonesian Food. Priced at around $10, you’ll get a yummy selection of meat and vegies. Photo with pink keropok below is Gado-Gado. Yummmmy!
ICHI NI, ESPLANADE HOTEL Slightly on the high end, this restaurant is fantastic with its great ambience. I was a little sceptical at first. I’m going to be biased and a little racist here when I say that I thought the food must be pretty bad because 98% of its patrons were (are) Caucasians. You know what they say about an Asian restaurant with more Caucasian patrons. However, this is clearly not the case. Located in St. Kilda, it’s not Chinatown, hence Caucasians! Plus, the people working behind counters were Japanese chefs with smiley waiters and waitresses. And, the food was great, so I’ll eat my own words. I skipped my first meal the next day after all that food with a glass of plum wine to please my palate. *grins* Seriously, it was just yummy! With the desserts as well…. my goodness gracious…. how not to get fat. I don’t care if myjojo becomes sick of Japan when he’s back, I’ll have to take him there!
OLDTOWN KOPITIAM MAMAK Level 2, Shop 11, QV Shopping Centre All the food I tasted were really well-prepared and tasted real! From pan mee to Otak-Otak to Siamese laksa, absolutely yummy! This one’s good for my Supermom if she doesn’t want to feel home-sick in Melbourne.
Last but not least.. I-FORGOT-THE-NAME-OF-THE-CAFE Ivan, what’s the cafe name again? Great coffee and desserts. More of turkish delight. I can’t even really remember if it was on Lonsdale or Bourke Street. Hmm…
Now you can imagine why I could forget the name so quickly. I was obviously paying attention to the cappuccino and cakes. Seriously, this is what food does to me! Now, time to check on the body again before the man comes back from Japan. Time to look good and get fit again. Winter should not be an excuse for piling up on the carbs to keep warm. Melbourne-the-food-city shouldn’t be an excuse as well!
Seriously, food’s yum! Especially Japanese food in Melbourne. I’ve been hiding, munching away quietly and still actively pole-dancing. |
