Pole-dancing with Adam Tan

Jen and I had the honour of pole-jamming with Malaysia’s best male pole-dancer Adam Tan from Viva Vertical.

It’s such a joy to watch a dancer on the pole, who portrays pole-dancing in a different light. You can dance it any genre you want and the way you want. You can be US male pole-dancer Steven Retchless in heels, Chinese pole dancer, stripper or however you want to pole-dance. Just embrace pole-dancing how you prefer it to be.

From the International Pole Championship 2012 website:

Adam is currently a college IT student in Malaysia. He started dancing at the age of 17. Always having the love for Hip Hop and R&B music, his dance style had been highly influenced. Now at 20 years old, he’s still an inspired and growing dancer. Having the experience of taking classes and workshops from many amazing dancers/choreographers from all over the world, he’s learnt to understand and appreciate dance even more. Shaun Evaristo (founder of Movement Lifestyle) is one of the major inspirations that have helped Adam find his passion for dance.

Adam has been pole dancing for 3 years and it has helped him find his love for performing. “What really inspires me to pole dance is seeing all these pole dancers in action!” In 2009, Adam competed in his first Pole competition, Pole Idol, in Malaysia and was awarded 2nd runner-up. After having constant encouragement from his team, Adam decided to join IPC 2010 and was named Pole Art Champion of IPC 2010. “I was so blessed and grateful for the opportunity to share my art in pole and dance at IPC 2010, and it feels great to know that people appreciate what I have to bring to the art of pole.”
