Trial Pole Session in Melbourne for My Blog Readers

Date: Sunday 30 May 2010
Time: 12pm – 1pm
Venue: Pole Divas Studio 3/22 Cecil St, Prahran VIC 3181

Getting there: Go along Commercial Rd till you come to Chapel St. Turn right, Hungry Jacks should be on your left. Walk all the way down past Amici Cafe and St. George Bank, turn left into the area before “Hako Sushi”. You’ll find a building at the end, walk up the stairs. Map here.

I specially created this event at Pole Divas for my friends and acquaintances in Melbourne who feel the need to try out pole dancing after the much hype and being curious about what it is all about. I’m sure you have seen photos and blog reviews about it here.

What’s in it for you? Feel sexy, see what it’s all about. Does not require you to do stunts immediately and it is not tough at all because students need to be trained before they can go upside down the pole. There are different levels – Beginner, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Intermediate 3, Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Advanced 3.

No guys allowed in this class. Boyfriends or male friends will be requested to leave the studio so leave them at home please, ladies. Only us sexy hot ladies in the class.

I wanted all my friends to get together earlier but it seemed like not everyone could make their normal casual class, so I requested with the lady boss of Pole Divas to allow me to have my friends come in on a selected common date (SUNDAY!) and receive $5 off normal Polesations class!!! Whee, magic!

What to bring / wear:
- tank top / exercise top
- short shorts
- high-heels
- towel
- water bottle

Cost: AUD$20 ($5 off for this special class)

Instructor: Lou Quill (profile here)

This class allows for 13 students only.

Please RSVP asap by e-mailing to suankim@gmail.com or personally contact me (if you have my mobile number).

Somewhat Circus, A Little Sexier

Indeed a night full of entertainment with sexy performances, acts as promised earlier in my blog entry here.

“Showtime” at Room 680, Glenferie Road organised Pole Divas. The night saw its favourite pole-dancing instructors like Lou, Fontaine, Hollie, Anna, Sarah George, Phil, Tania, Lisa, Davina, Jannine, Giada and Lulu to put up special performances. There were performances which included a bondage ballerina, snake charmers, runaway lioness and her ring mistress, Eyes Wide Shut shows,  Jody McLeod’s special spin show, aerial shows, showgirls Vegas style and so much more clubbing to the sounds of DJs Jake O’Leary and Miss Kitty.

The show was an act almost one after another throughout the entire night from 11pm-3pm with breaks in between with the DJs pumping up the music loud enough to encourage movement amongst the crowd, while I noticed that many spectators had taken this performance show really seriously, staring at the stage for upcoming performances and trying not to lose their spot for viewing purposes. However, spectators were not disappointed at all.

As with other performing arts reviews on this space of which you have read before, you’ll notice that I will critically assess the performance for the entire night. One of the highlights of the night I must say, had to be Philippa and Anna (Bootsy)’s performance in the pole cage (you’ll see two ladies in pink and black as you scroll down). Theirs, I felt, was the most pumped up performance, but definitely different if compared to the aerial performer’s flexible act on the big round hula hoop on air that sent gaping jaws star-strucked throughout the entire floor. Immediate reactions were, “Eeeeyow, how did she do that!? Amazing…wow!” Setback for the night? Maybe the music was a little too loud and the announcements were inaudible at the centre of the stage, I guess this is quite unavoidable.

I am happy the photos turned out really awesome thanks to my Canon Ixus 200 IS. Most of the photos were taken in night mode without flash, using other professional camera’s flash (I had to time my photo-taking really carefully!).

Aerial performer flipping over.

Something we all strive to do.

My favourite movement shot of the night.

Eyes Wide Shut!

Saxaphonist and two pole cleaners.

Purely strength.

DJ Jake.

Louise Landers.

The ladies preparing to do a backflip against the pole.

Someday, Kim…. Someday she will be that strong.

So strong that Mimi (right) becomes the perfect example of women empowerment through pole-dancing. You can indeed gain biceps muscles through pole-dancing, in comparison to yoga / gym freak Ray.

Jody McLeod from Nova.fm putting on the heat in the room.

This was what I mean by everyone staring in amazement.

And more.

The very hot and sizzling Shelley.

Fun in the ladies’.

That’s a hair straightener below the poster in the ladies’!

Louise Landers the Bondage Ballerina.

She bent like a pretzel!

Here are my two favourites – Philippa and Anna.

The very powerful Anna!

So inspired by what we saw, Ray, Mimi and I decided to have a pole jam session on the road.

Did you like that?

Want to learn how to do splits?

Stumbled upon this video on youtube (my favourite place to be). It’s not about how flexible one is automatically, but how much one practises to get there. Splits are not an easy task and takes alot of pain and stretching. Remember, over time, not over night. Hope this helps you.

Showtime is happening this Friday. Today is the last day for you to purchase the ticket online here. Pre-sale tickets are AUD$35. After today, tickets will be sold at the door.

Pole Dance In A Box

If I’m not blogging, doing work, going for pole dance classes, I’d be spending my time on youtube.

Tell me it’s a jaw-dropping performance. Something out of the ordinary, definitely! How creative!

My recent blog entries have been much to do with pole-dancing. If you’ve followed me from recent years, much I write about have been alot to do with my mood, emotions and passion, so stick with me longer till I find another pattern to my blog.

Polesations with Kim

After my 11am Pole Flex session with Fontaine, I treated myself to a yummy potato pizza top and a glass of OJ at Amici Cafe before meeting the twelve girls who turned up for Polesations, an event I organised on Facebook Event since this same group had talked about wanting to join a pole dance session as they’ve been curious about it before. I just simply organised one and managed to get a discount off Pole Divas plus it was the perfect timing for anyone to join the class for the first time because normal Polesations class (open to the public) takes place on most weekdays (except for Saturday mornings). See timetable here.

I suspect I might have to put together another class soon because the studio was overbooked and more people wanted to attend but we had to turn them down. The next time I organise this, I will put it up on this blog.

The sexy ladies who had never tried pole-dance before turned up in their tank tops, shorts and high heels and learnt the unexpected sexy tricks from the very sexy and lanky Shelley. It was Shelley who taught me Polesations last time that spurred me on to join a proper pole-dancing course. It wasn’t only because of the sexy tricks she taught us, but also because it was just inspiring to see her move, and looking at her sexy body itself made me want to achieve that.

After the class, my girlfriends verified with me that they know the kind of pain and pleasure I associate myself with when it came to pole-dancing. The sense of achievement of feeling sexy after a strenous hard workout that started off with aerobics, gymnastics on the pole and eventually yoga.

Shelley checks Jia Meei’s hand position.
The girls shaking their booties!
After a full routine, it was time for some strengthening and stretching.
Cycling on air!
Shelley performed a quick routine to show the girls what advanced pole dancing is like.
Finally, I called for a group photo. A little blur, though. It serves its purpose well (blur) in case the girls didn’t like me posting this up. Teehee!
Rani, Sheetal and I. Now I’m going to be really vain and tell you the truth. The first time I saw this photo, I looked right at my left arm, how muscular it has now become from before. Of course there is a certain type of body I want to achieve, possibly something good enough to be on the front cover of a health magazine!
