Results for Malaysian Dreamgirl Reality Show

I went for the MDG Finale at One-Utama. And the results are….

Winner – Cindy Tey

Taken off her blog at http://hotpinkchili.blogspot.com

She has a pretty and neat face with a smooth walk throughout her fashion show, with head held up high. She only smiled once for the camera, for a few seconds when she was announced as the winner. Personally, she looks great on print and on the runway. She’s suitable for high-fashion photography. Unfortunately, she didn’t possess the aura in person, from what I could see when she was onstage. She couldn’t connect with the crowd. Maybe she’s different face-to-face when you speak to her. But one thing’s for sure, with her family’s support, she will surely go far. Being the controversial Cindy on set, we can expect more to come from Cindy but hey hey hey, controversy is what we Malaysians like. So we’ll wait for her to blossom into a butterfly in the industry and we expect more controversy.

I quote one of her blog entries:
“so? answers cleared? dad gives me everything i want. – a cell phone, a lap top, a dvd camera, a car, money for clothes, money for shoes, money for bags, money for fine dining, money for everything. dad gave me the biggest gift i ever had – his acquiescence, endless support, and valuable advises to pick up a Contemporary Arts degree when i can do doctor or law; leave alone unhappy mummy.”

1st Runner-Up – Adeline Lee

Her head was ducked forward throughout the catwalk, and she did walk a little bit like a gangster girl. But, that could be used as her strength, as a unique selling point. I only saw her smile once for the camera at the end of the show. She has nice height and nice hair (according to my mother). However, the heavy eye make-up makes her eyes look too close apart, giving her a rather tensed look. That aside, she seems comfortable speaking in front of the camera but her English can be improved. A very hardworking girl indeed, winning most challenges in MDG.

2nd Runner-Up – Hanis Zalikha

Hanis was like a fairy walking through the stage. She was gliding, not walking. She possessed so much aura that the crowd kept cheering for her till the very end. This little girl has great potential in the showbiz and I’m pretty sure many people would want to sign her up already. She had so many supporters at the finale and even through blogs, most people had good things to say about her.

HANIS IS STILL MY WINNER!

A Hearty Dinner Affair

I’m so gonna make you regret reading my blog today, because you’re going to leave my blog salivating all over. It’s been sometime since I posted anything about my all-time favourite Marmalade Cafe in Bangsar Village II. Tati and I enjoyed the most sumptuous dinner over the weekend.

They seem to have new items on the menu. Do check it out.

Poached salmon with spinach rice. They ran out of brocolli for that day so I requested for more spinach and cucumbers instead. I think I’ll do that the next time round. RM22.00. This is definitely a new item.

Avocado Accent, cost RM14.00 (light).

More of such healthy food for the girls over the weekend?

Monday Blues

Monday again. KL city is jammed again. It’s been raining alot.

These two images of KL traffic jam are for those unfamiliar with Malaysia.

Over the weekend, I became creative and decided to get funky with my hair, but definitely something not too funky, one that would suit my wedding gown next year.

What colour could it be?

Red? Green? Copper? Purple?

Ben’s Bday at Werner’s

Celebrated Ben’s birthday at Werner’s. Nice food. Werner’s the sister branch of El Cerdo and it had a wide selection of food-without-pork. I’ll return to Werner’s again. Great ambience, great place!

The very sweet and demure Cheryl and Ben.

Elsze.

Tortiglioni pasta. Yes! I can finally remember the name of some food I took picture of.

Nice chandelier.

Ham and sausage bread.

Spaghetti meatballs.

Some kind of nutty, hard-to-chew, grainy rice. I forgot its name again.

The winner goes to Ken’s choice of food – the prettiest dish I’ve seen in ages. Shrimp sandwich.

Group picture.

At work earlier that day…

Elsze: Kim, you look like a Mariner today. Perhaps the right word should be “nautical”.
Kim: Really? I was going for the “Beetle Juis’ look today.”
Elsze: (couldn’t stop laughing)

A few hours later, my male colleague was standing next to me, (it was yet another stripey day) and the MD quickly took his Nokia handphone out to snap a picture.

After fifteen minutes – I received a mass e-mail circulated to the entire company that read, “Spot the Stripes” with an attachment of my picture together with my very stripey colleague.

There were just two of us caught on photo that day, but in actual fact, there were more than that who wore stripes in that week.

It was funny, if not embarassing, coming from the MD himself who possessed quite a subtle, calm yet commanding diplomatic presence. Nobody would have expected him to be that cheeky. But that’s what you have, for one coming from a creative agency.

Nobu in London

Myjojo and I have been fans of Nobu Restaurant, the best Japanese Restaurant all over the world (well, except in Malaysia?). The last one we went to was in Melbourne, (click on this entry to compare) it was absolutely delicious. The quality and texture of their sushi is just immaculate. I could dine at Nobu everyday but I’d eat till I go bankrupt.

“The London outpost of Nobu, which opened in 1997, was the first European venture for both the Myriad Restaurant Group and celebrated Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa. The restaurant is located in the stylish Metropolitan hotel on London’s Old Park Lane. During the day, diners are not only enthralled by the food but also by the magnificent views of Hyde Park, while by night, the beautifully illuminated space is one of the city’s hottest dining destinations.

The menu is similar to that of Nobu New York, featuring many of the same signature dishes like Yellowtail with Jalapeno and Black Cod with Miso. The minimalist sleek design has neutral tones, blond wood, and cream leather seating which create a modern yet comfortable environment. The restaurant’s décor and design complement the vibrancy and richness of the food. Nobu London was the first Asian restaurant to receive a Michelin star, and also voted the most popular restaurant in the 2005 London Zagat Survey.”

I got all dressed up for the lovely date with myjojo.

Nobu, London at Metropolitan Hotel. To be honest, I didn’t really prefer this ambience as it was catered for white-collar workers, for business meals and such. Not quite a romantic place, compared to (apparently the other Nobu in town).

Myjojo and I were seated at the bar.

We made friends with the chefs at work and learned some sushi tricks.

Fresh edamame with salt crystals.

Working on the sushi.

Chefs at work.

Miso soup.

Tuna and Avocado.

I tagged myjojo on this salmon sashimi picture on my Facebook.

Soft-shell crab. Yummy.

I forgot the name of this. That’s the problem with me, I should quit the habit of taking picture of food I gobble up too quickly without remember its name. You see, taking pictures of food isn’t a hassle for me as I’m so used to it.

Myjojo and I back at the Sheraton Hotel lobby just down the road of Metropolitan Hotel.

At the Sheraton lounge, waiting for our ice-cream.
